Description

Bourke Breeze Wide Brim Soaka Hat

The air goes still deep in the Borneo interior, the kind that presses sweat into your spine before the sound of rain arrives. You move slow through the understory, eyes up, listening for movement that does not belong to you. The wide brim stays level as the light shifts, shielding skin while the mesh at the back lets heat bleed off before it becomes a problem.

A sudden rustle cuts the silence. You stop. Something large moves off, unseen. The sky darkens fast. Monsoon weather never asks permission. When the rain breaks, it comes hard and sideways, drumming leaves and canvas alike. You keep moving.

Hours later, steam rises from the ground as quickly as it fell. You sit, breathing again, watching the forest reset itself. The hat stays on. It always does. Sun, rain, humidity, exposure. One less decision in a place that does not forgive distraction.

  • Machine washable in cold/warm water with a mild detergent for washing; do not tumble dry.
  • Hang dry or lay flat in the shade. If necessary, use a hairdryer to remove creases caused by squashing or incorrect storage.
  • Avoid leaving your hat in a hot car.
  • A good rule of thumb is - if it's too hot to touch, then it's too hot for your hat!

Initially the hat was great but…

It started to show signs of discolouration (looks like faded splotches all over). This happened to both hats I bought. I reached out to customer service and they replied initially and then ghosted me when I followed up. Unfortunately I won’t be buying again as I do not know if this is a regular issue. It’s a shame as the hats were otherwise just what we were after.
