After a soak in the hot springs, a hot brekkie and a few cups of hot kopi we began our hike up to the crater rim. The walk was relatively easy compared to the trek to Mt Rinjiani's 3726m high summit and the weather comfortable and perfectly suited to the day's expedition.

As we traversed around Lake Segara Anak, the views of the newly formed volcano 'Gunung Baru' just kept getting better so collectively we decided to find a nice rock to kick back on to sit and marvel at the natural wonder in front of us over a few hits of warm local whiskey.

Relaxed and satisfied, we headed off soon after. We made it to our campsite situated just over the other side of the crater rim just in time to witness one of the most epic and spectacular sunsets we have ever seen.
