Description

Toorak Shirt

Morning starts in Fitzroy with the doors half open and the street still quiet. By mid-day you are pushing out past the city, the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 loaded and pointed toward the Great Ocean Road. Sleeves rolled, hands busy, no reason to slow down. The Toorak Shirt is built for days that stretch and plans that shift. It moves clean from workshop benches to long drives, from setting camp to a late game of beach cricket when the light finally softens.

The fabric takes friction without complaint. Dust shakes out. Creases stay honest. By the time you turn back toward town, the shirt looks better than it did that morning. Not precious. Not decorative. Just worn into place through use, movement, and hours you did not rush.

This is everyday gear for people who do not wait for permission.

Favorite shirt, with some issues

I generally love this shirt, and appreciate the weight of the fabric and the interesting details. However, the original Toorak shirt (purchased in 2014) was significantly larger in a given size, the Large fit me perfectly. I was delighted to find them still on sale here, but disappointed to find that the Large is quite a bit smaller now. For example, the sleeves are 4cm shorter. So you may find that you will need to go up a size when ordering.

Having owned two of these shirts, I have also found that the underarm seam is a weak point, although they both lasted 10 years before the seam parted!

Favorite shirt, with an issue or two

I first bought this shirt in 2014, and it became a favorite. When I wanted to replace it, I found it was no longer in production! I managed to find a used one on eBay. And now I find Whilias&Gunn have the shirt in stock! That's the good news.

The bad news is that the sizing has changed, and the Large I bought ten years ago is noticeably larger than the new shirt I just received. I will also note that the underarm seam appears to be a weak point; both the original shirts that I have failed in the same spot.

Even with that issue, I love this shirt, it feels sturdy and very comfortable, with a nice masculine look. Ordering another, size XL.

A shirt I'm bloody stoked about

Fit is right on. High gauged material so it's heavy tough stuff. It'll be a shirt that'll last awhile.
