Buckleys Oilskin Bucket Hat

K’gari shifts fast. One minute the sand is blinding white and the water sits flat enough to slide a kayak across. The next, cloud rolls in low and the temperature drops without warning. Paddles tap the hull. Wind comes sideways. The Buckleys is already on, brim pulled down, oilskin darkening as the first rain hits. Microwax sheds water instead of soaking it, and the hat stays light even when the weather doesn’t.

You beach the kayak early, drag it clear of the tide line, and wait it out under the trees. Rain passes as quickly as it arrived. Salt dries on your cuffs. Later there’s a cold Little Creatures back at camp, steam lifting off the sand as the sun finds its way back through. The Buckleys rolls into a pocket, ready for the next shift. That’s island travel. Heavy-duty cotton canvas impregnated with oils and waxes which is wind and water resistant yet breathable. It is durable and ideal for outdoor use, with a distinctive rugged texture that ages beautifully over time

  • Rewax as needed to maintain maximum water resistance.

Super light, super soft signature material!

Thought this Buckley hat had to be a must-have to be a Kakadu fan, and this authentic oilskin hat is just so good as anticipated! Feel incredibly soft, very light on my head and fits deep (size M on my 57cm head) so it would stay on in breezy weather. Fancying matching it with a heritage coat one day!

this is a pleasant surprise

its definitely unique in that its a light weight material, does not smell like an oilskin, the fabric these guys use is by far the best I have come across. now my go to brand I am converted. the hat is awesome, I have a 61 cm head and the XL was perfect, its a deep hat so pulls down nicely, does not need a chit tie. the quality is there, you pay for what you get. I will definitely be wearing this when it looks like its gonna rain, I might even wear it when it's sunny too. love it in black
