Kakadu hats - how to measure your head

Wrap a tape measure or a piece of string (if you use string, you'll need a ruler as well) around your head so that it is above your eyebrows and about 1cm / half and inch above your ears. No need to pull too tight - remember you want your hat to be comfy!

There are some slight variations in size depending on the fabric used for the hat - thicker materials mean the hat fit will be a bit tighter and thin fabrics a bit touch looser

Kalgoorlie Wide Brim Soaka Hat

Heat comes early on Koh Phangan. The coastal trail from Haad Khom to Bottle Beach cuts along the headland, narrow in places, scrub pressing close, the sea dropping away below. You move steadily, rock and dirt underfoot, sun already hard on your shoulders.

The Kalgoorlie sits low and steady through the walk in. Wide brim doing the work. Air moving where it needs to. By the time the track opens and the beach appears, the worst of the heat has been managed without thought.

Later, the board goes in and the pace slows. Paddle boarding just off the shoreline, salt drying on your arms, the hat still on, chin strap loose, crown breathing.

As afternoon softens, a fresh shaken Pina Colada finds its way into your hand in the shade. Ice cracks. The day stretches without urgency. Built for hot miles, coastal movement, and the quiet reward that comes after effort.

Care

Machine washable in cold/warm water with a mild detergent for washing; do not tumble dry.

Hang dry or lay flat in the shade. If necessary, use a hairdryer to remove creases caused by squashing or incorrect storage.

Avoid leaving your hat in a hot car.

A good rule of thumb is - if it's too hot to touch, then it's too hot for your hat!
