Workhorse Oilskin Pants

They get pulled on at the edge of Ruta 40 while the wind comes off the Patagonian plains hard enough to sting. Dust moves sideways. The Workhorse Oilskin Pants go over whatever you are already wearing and shut the weather out without discussion. A Toyota Hilux idles nearby, paint already scuffed, plans already flexible. You step back onto the road and keep moving south.

By midday the track deteriorates and the riding gets physical. Dirt bike riding through ruts and loose stone, legs taking hits from brush and spray. The oilskin darkens where water lands, then sheds it. Nothing clings. Nothing flaps. When the engine finally cuts and hands stop shaking, the pants stay on while boots come off and gear gets dropped where it falls.

Later, camp is quiet and earned. A Quilmes gets cracked open with stiff fingers while the light drains out of the sky and the wind finally eases. Mud dries. Fabric creases. The Workhorse looks better than it did this morning. That is the point.

      Oilskin cotton canvas. Heavy-duty cotton impregnated with oils and waxes to create a wind and water resistant yet breathable fabric. Designed to handle abrasion, moisture, and repeated hard use while developing character over time.

      Care

      Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Do not machine wash. Reproof oilskin as required to maintain water resistance. Allow to air dry naturally. Avoid prolonged direct heat.

      Awesome wet weather gear

      Check your size

      Great pants but need improvement. Go one size down. I went by the guide and it says medium. Way to big I need a small. The problem is they only have string to tie them up which looks like it could wear essy. The pants need belt loops.

      Product different to website

      The pants I received did not have a drawstring waist, back pocket or had warmer pockets as advertised. Seems they have changed the design and not updated the website. Contacted the company for clarification and no response. If you don’t need those features quality/value is good. Bought for wet weather hiking in scrub.

      Better Than Expected

      I was really disappointed in your company after I learned you were no longer selling the “Walk-About-Pants anymore. A friend of mine that had a pair suggested trying another style, so I purchased the Work Horse Oil Skin pants and “boy-o-boy, did I love them! I showed my friend and he’s ordering a pair also!
