Description

Winton Shapeable Leather Hat

The day starts early, heat already sitting low and heavy as the track cuts into the Namib Desert. The Winton is shaped once, then left alone. Dust settles into the crown. The hand painted band is vibrant. Wind finds the brim and tests it. It holds.

By midday the walking slows. Packs come off. Shade is a suggestion at best. The leather darkens slightly where sweat and sun meet, taking on the marks that only come from distance. Later, as the light drops and the air finally cools, a Windhoek Lager appears from the back of a Land Rover Defender 110. The hat stays on while the ground radiates the day back at you.

This is not decoration. It is protection, endurance, and presence, built for places where the sun does not negotiate.

Care
  • Do not wash or dry clean – brush off dirt with a soft brush or wipe clean with a damp cloth. 
  • Periodically apply leather conditioners to maintain flexibility and prevent drying out.
  • Avoid leaving leather goods in a hot car where the high temperatures may affect the quality and finish of the leather.
  • A good rule of thumb is - if it's too hot to touch, then it's too hot for your hat!
